Reading

I was an avid reader in elementary school; now I just read when a book grabs my attention. This only applies to books, however — I read some sort of article every day. Recently discovered Substack, good stuff.

•
Breaking Point — David Hundeyin — An autobiography of a journalist who had to flee the country after the EndSARS protests in Nigeria. Great guy. Crazy, but great.

Already read

•
Billion Dollar Loser — Reeves Wideman — I was really interested in tech during COVID and decided to pick this up. While reading the book i would look at a couple videos of Adam Neumann speaking. Bro could sell ice to an Eskimo.
•
Bad Blood — John Carreyrou — Another startup rabbit hole read. What struck me was how Holmes kept investors, employees, and board members deliberately siloed. No single person ever had the full picture. Thank God the Edison did not indirectly kill anyone.
•
Americanah — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie — What fascinated me was the “reverse japa” arc. Nigeria’s best choosing to come back and build, fueled by collective belief that things would get better. That faith feels distant now.
•
There Was a Country — Chinua Achebe — The Nigerian civil war was a genocide. No reparations, no accountability, and the tribalism it fueled is still alive today. This one broke my heart.
